DCSF "Specialist" Team
It is the ambition of the special educational needs (SEN) and disability division that every child with special educational needs reaches their full potential in school, and can make a successful transition to adulthood and the world of further and higher education, training or work.
Forvus Online Analysis
The DCSF team promotes the welfare and interests of disabled children and looks to improve the support they receive, DCSF required a tool whereby Local Authorities could benchmark their performance in this area.
To meet this need Forvus was asked to develop the National Pupil Framework (NPF) website. The NPF gathers together for the first time a set of indicators to assist Local Authorities in the process of monitoring, self-review and self-improvement.
Quicker, Better Results
The site helps them to set and monitor local targets to improve their performance in meeting the needs of pupils with SEN. At the heart of NPF is Beyond 20/20 data dissemination software, enabling users to quickly obtain information on a variety of data such as pupil numbers, provision, social disadvantage and attainment in Key Stage tests. Being dynamic, Beyond 20/20 provides a range of tables that can be manipulated to give the exact information required by the user, and filter out any extraneous data.
Support for JAR
As well as having performance data immediately available with which they can rate their own performance as well as neighbouring authorities, the NPF website provides data ‘on demand’ for Joint Area Reviews by Ofsted, which judge the contribution they and their partners are making to improve outcomes for children and young people.
Every Local Authority
Now used by every local authority in England, the National Performance Framework website offers users unparalleled access to special education needs data, and usage by the public grows month by month. Forvus continues to develop the site through a programme of improvements designed to provide greater range of data related to the support of children with special education needs.
